Privacy

This describes what actually happens when you use OzPDF. It is written against the code, not around it.

Tools that run in your browser

Most tools here process your file on your own device. The document is never transmitted, so there is nothing for us to store, read, scan, or hand to anyone. Each of these pages carries a green badge saying so, and you can verify it in your browser’s Network tab.

After a browser-side job finishes, one small record is sent: which tool you used, how many bytes went in and out, how long it took, and whether it succeeded. That record is used for your own history and for the usage counts shown on tool pages. It never contains your file, its name, its contents, or any password you typed.

Tools that run on our servers

OCR, Office conversions, heavy compression and a few others cannot run in a browser. Those pages carry an amber badge instead. For them, your file is uploaded to ozpdf.com.au, processed, and made available for you to download.

Both the file you uploaded and the file we produced are deleted two hours after processing. That is a hard deadline enforced by a scheduled job — it applies whether or not you downloaded the result. We do not keep copies, and we do not read the contents for any purpose other than performing the conversion you asked for.

You can delete a file before that deadline from the Your files page.

Cookies

One cookie, named pdfking_v. It holds a random identifier so the Your files page can show your own history on this device. It is not shared, not sold, and not used for advertising or cross-site tracking. Clearing it simply empties your history list.

There is no analytics cookie and no third-party script on any page of this site. That is also why there is no cookie banner: the one cookie we set is strictly necessary for the feature it powers.

IP addresses

Your IP address is never stored. What is stored is a one-way hash of it, salted with a value that changes every day, which lets us rate-limit abuse without keeping a record of who visited. Because the salt rotates daily, yesterday’s hashes cannot be matched against today’s.

Accounts

You do not need one. If you never run a job, no record of you is created at all — visiting a page stores nothing. Running a job creates a row holding the tool name, the byte counts, and the hashed IP described above.

Who else sees any of this

Nobody. There are no third-party analytics, no advertising networks, no embedded trackers, and no data sharing arrangements. The site runs on infrastructure we operate.

Australian privacy law

OzPDF is operated from Australia and handles personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

The practical consequence is short, because we hold almost nothing. For browser-side tools there is no disclosure to consider — the document is never collected in the first place, so APP 8 (cross-border disclosure) simply does not arise. For the server-side tools, processing and storage happen on infrastructure we operate, and the file is destroyed within two hours in line with APP 11.2, which requires destroying information once it is no longer needed.

We do not sell, rent or disclose personal information to anyone, and there is no overseas recipient to name.

To ask what is held about you, or to have it deleted, email hello@ozpdf.com.au. Because we store so little and delete it so quickly, most requests are answered by pointing at this page — but ask anyway if you want to be sure.
